Syntropy is as simple as it is effective. There are 2 functions – Breathe and Relax.
Breathe uses both the art and the music to pace your breathing. It is designed for Coherence breathwork. You can find out more about coherence under the info menu.
Relax is designed for you to breathe in any way you like, including different breathwork techniques.
If you use Syntropy 2-3 times each day you will discover how easy it can be to stop stress in its tracks and quickly relax, rebalance and revitalise.
When you choose the Breathe function, you will first select a gallery and then an artwork video. When you select the artwork, a pop-up will give you the option to breathe at 3 different breath cycle speeds – 8, 10 or 12 seconds.
• 8 secs: This is the fastest breath cycle speed. You will breathe in for 4 secs as the shape expands/evolves and out for 4 secs as the shape contracts. This speed is best for children. It is also appropriate for adults who experience breathlessness or have difficulty breathing slowly. You can also use this pace for box breathing – breathe in for 4 secs, hold for 4 secs, breathe out for 4 secs, hold for 4 secs (and repeat).
• 10 secs: This is the optimal breath cycle speed for most people for coherence breathwork. You will breathe in for 5 secs as the shape expands/evolves and out for 5 secs as the shape contracts.
• 12 secs: This is a good speed for people who are very fit and already do breathwork and yoga. You will breathe in for 6 secs as the shape expands/evolves and out for 6 secs as the shape contracts.
The best thing to do is play with different speeds and see which feels most comfortable.
The videos stream in high definition, so make sure you have a good 4G mobile/cell signal or better still, use wi-fi. A poor mobile/cell signal will result in buffering.
If you know that you are going to be in an area with poor coverage, or if you will be travelling and needing to use “airplane mode” then you can download a selection of videos in advance.
Your downloaded videos will be stored under Settings/Downloads.
You have set a “sleep mode” for your device. Extend this to 5 minutes or more and then you will be able to watch videos without interruption.
Yes! Visit our webstore at https://shop.syntropystates.com where you’ll find two albums of coherence breath pacing soundtracks as well as beautiful prints of some of our artworks.
Use headphones, as many of the soundtracks are multidimensional. Turn your phone to landscape and maximise the video player window. Most videos look best in dark mode, especially at night. But if there’s bright light reflecting on your screen then switch to light mode.
Try to breathe in and out through your nose – this is important as nasal breathing is very good for your health. However, there are some specific breathing techniques which include mouth breathing. It’s fine to use these techniques with the app too.
Make sure your stomach is nice and relaxed so that you can breathe fully. Your stomach should expand as you breath in and contract as you breathe out.
Experiment with different pacers and speeds throughout your day to discover which ones you enjoy and benefit you the most
.
This function can be used however you like.
For example, you can simply lose yourself in the beautiful art and gorgeous music, paying no attention to your breath at all. Or you could lightly focus on breathing at a nice slow, deep and comfortable pace of your own.
You could also engage in any type of breathwork you like – there’s so many different techniques! We’ll send you some ideas via email every now and then.
You may have your device in “portrait lock” mode. Unlock this mode and you will be able to view the videos in landscape.
You have turned off your sound or notifications, or your volume is off. Turn these back on again and you will be able to hear the music.
Every week we will be featuring a new video on the app as well creating an archive of Syntropy videos for you to enjoy at any time.
